I think perhaps it's time we got Joanna to actually do something with our ship - she is the pilot afterall.

Do you think we could tie the gas bag creatures to the outside of the ship, thus keeping us buoyant and avoiding a crash?
If we started floating too much we could use indigestion tablets to deflate a few of them..
