Chillicothe Paints

The Chillicothe Paints baseball team is a member of the Independent Frontier League. The league is not affiliated with any of the major league ball clubs, though several of the best players have been drafted by bigger clubs in higher level leagues. So far only two have made it to the majors, Former Paint pitcher (1994) Brian Tollberg is currently starting for the San Diego Padres. while Morgan Burkhart former Richmond Roosters and Frontier League MVP is playing for the Boston Red Sox.
Owned by Dr Chris Hanners The Chillicothe Paints Played the first ever frontier league game at VA Memorial Stadium in June of 1993 in front of a crowd of 2,154 defeating the Portsmouth Explorers.
Eeight years later the team, still under the same ownership average attendance of over 1,500
The league rules limit the age of the players, so we don't get aging has-beens taking places that could go to new kids who, with a little bit of extra coaching and a second chance, may just make it some day. There is also a limit to the number of experienced players 1 year, 2 year and 3+ year "veterans" only make up about half the team. This makes continuity a problem; but all the teams suffer the same to a certain extent and it makes each new season a revelation. The Paints have made it to the league play offs most years since the leagues inception
