I enjoyed that - put a smile on my face from the start.

Though I must admit to have blushed somewhat towards the end - the notion of an Emperor in the nude is most un-British. Frankly, I'm shocked. smiley - bigeyes

I hope you're well?

Good to hear! I'm feeling mildly wonderful, thank you. I'm getting all excited about university stuff at the moment - despite the fact that I don't seem able to grasp anything at all.

It's utterly frustrating. I'm inclined to suspect that I'm actually superbly dumb. It seems as if the more I learn, the less I know...

I'm not even certain that any of that made sense, for example. Perhaps I might just have a lie down.

Yours,

Discus. smiley - coffee

Hey Discus smiley - smiley Good to hear from you. I was reading 'The Excuse' earlier. It was a very good entry indeed, and I noticed it made it into the UG. Well done! smiley - bubbly

I've just finished my latest short story today. Whew, I'm glad I'm there with it.....

What are you studying?

Good fun!

Thanks Flame. I'm looking forward to the latest short story - leave me a message when you post it and i'll nip over.

I'm studying philosophy, which isn't terribly contagious so don't worry, and it's utterly brilliant.

Everything was going well. The sun was shining. I made daisy chains. Long ones. I skipped through high grass and the rabbits were so tame, I could feed them, beneath an idealic sunset, by hand.

Then, some lecherous lecturer decided that it would be a good idea to read Satre's Being and Nothingness. Now, it rains every day. The meadows have become bogs. The sun; smothered by the choking grey of a storm. The rabbits bite your fingers. And daisy chains? Pah.

There is sunlight on the horizon, however: I shall kidnap my tutor. I don't think he will mind; I have a very comfortable cellar (all the mod-cons) and he can teach me everything he knows (which is presumably why he became a tutor in the first place.)

Only there is a catch22. For without daisy chains, I don't know how i can restrain him smiley - wah

Suggestions on a postcard, please...

What about you? Are you a student/worky/slavey/housey/mummy/monachy/other (please specify)?

Yours,

Discus.

I'm a mother and a worker - but most of all I'm me! smiley - smiley

Oh my, philosophy! I'm sure that it great fun to study. smiley - smiley You could try restraining your tutor with your wit and charm. I tried that once, (many years ago) and the tutor couldn't function for months. He was completely at my mercy! smiley - winkeye

My latest story is A3581624 - hope you enjoy.

Wit and charm? Tools of an age long past, i fear. Tutors, through the stress of targets and illiterate students, are too delicate for such weapons:

A tutor of mind astute,
Had a student of ill-repute,
Whom with wit and charm
did this tutor such harm,
That he's mentally mad as a hoot!

Or so the saying goes, at least. Though the insinuation of your experience is that one ought to put "fruit" in there somewhere...

Meanwhile, off to read your story...

Yours,

Discus.
