Buddies Restaurant - THE Place to find the Hoopiest Burgers this side of Rothersthorpe.
The world, being a large and diverse area, plays host to many restaurants of finery and cordon bleu cuisine, where meals are judged by wisened food critics upon their delicacy of flavour, presentation and care and attention to detail by the culinary artiste who made them.
This is all very well, but for the discerning Hitchhiker trying to discover the beauties of the world for less that 30 Euros a day, such establishments seldom offer good value meals so large that they mostly arrive on more than one plate.
Buddies Restaurant in Northampton, England is one such place that does. From the moment you arrive, you are treated to an overwhelming collection of Americana bolteld to every inch of wallspace, showing that its is the fondest wish of the proprietors that you leave as well and truly stuffed as the walls are.
The seating is snug but comfortable, and it is not long before a waitress arrives with the menu. Being such an extensive selection, you may at first think that you have been given a local newspaper, before closer examination.
The menu is vast, offering literally hundreds of different combinations of burgers with more choices of toppings that the mind can comfortably conceive. But take it in your stride and DO NOT PANIC. Take your time and examine each in turn, politely advising the eager waitresses that you are still deciding each time they approach. (On no account order any alochol whilst deciding, as it may take so long that by the time you get to the end of the menu, you are so inebriated that you have forgotten 70% of what you have read).
It should be noted that all of the burgers can be chosen with either beefburger, chicken burger or vegetarian burger, so no one has any reason to loudly display their abhorrence over th establishents lack of social awareness*.
The burgers also come in a range of sizes - our advice is to eat only the smaller sizes, if you want to be able to get to the desserts. (See below.)
If you are asked if you would like either coleslaw or salad with your burger, ALWAYS ask for the coleslaw. Being made locally by a Polish genius, it is so creamy and delicious that you should have it even if you dislike coleslaw, as after a quick taste, you will be quickly converted.
The desserts are equally as indulgent on the eye and stomach. A host of choices are available, each as impossible to deny yourself that the last.
All of this can be enjoyed whilst listened to piped New York music, whilst watching an endless home video of someones trip to the Big Apple, which, whilst sometimes being dull, adds to the experience nonetheless.
In all this writer advises that any passing Hitchhiker should take sustenance at Buddies, Northampton, as a brief pitstop of comfort food levity before returning to the harsh realities that the rest of the county enshrouds you in like the reaper's cape.
* Except Vegans, but they are only truly happy once they have ruined the atmosphere for everyone anyway.
