This is just a really quick starter comment. I'll look at it more indepth after I've found my copy of the book smiley - biggrin

There's no need to have the subheader of Introduction. The title shouldn't be followed straight by a subheader.

Postive >> positive

the American dream. >> possibly 'The American Dream' ?

Of Mice and Men >> Needs to be either italicised, or put in ' '

You mix past tense and present tense when talking about the book. I think perhaps it should be done as present tense?

without and outside intervention >> without any outside intervention

The subheaders are a bit odd in general. They seem to skip a lot. For example you go from Isolation and Loneliness to Curley. I know this is still following themes and examples throughout the book but it would be better to label each as the theme, symbol, etc rather than as a name.

Throughout the essay you need to keep coming back to the title, showing whether something is optimistic, showing when something is pessimistic, rather than writing about it and expecting the reader to know. I know it seems obvious but after a while it's easy to forget the reason for an article, essay, newsletter, whatever.

Anyway that's enough for now. I look forward to seeing this in the Guide and I'm sure someone with more expertise will be along soon smiley - biggrin

Thanks for the feedback I agree about the headers/subheaders - they were all put in quite clumsily and rushed - it was originally a GCSE English Essay but i figured that it needed to be broken up (bit dull otherwise!). I've changed the OMM to italics as you suggested, but any other changes to be made would be much appreciated!

cheers

Speller - If I can help somebody...

Hi Deano reading through this and finding it interesting.

Obviously heard of the book but never read it nor do I know a thing about it so I can’t pass comment on the accuracy of your work BUT I can help with the niggles (and bump this up the PR thread so that someone else might notice it!)

Been through it with a fine comb and here are a few(not that much honest smiley - winkeye and I really enjoyed my read – might even get a copy of the novel!)things to think about...

Header: Isolation and Lonliness spelling problem -> Isolation and Loneliness (as correctly written in the first sentence below!)

5TH paragraph of Isolation and Lonliness: “The fact that her name is never mentioned my Steinbeck” -> by Steinbeck (typo)?

Same para: “it is a generic example of oppressive and dominant male figure in a relationship” doesn’t make sense to me – should it be “it is a generic example of an oppressive and dominant male figure in a relationship” ?

Foresight para 1: “Premonitions like these are common in Of Mice and Men,” should Of Mice and Men be in single quotes?
And again in the next para?
And again in “Postive Aspects" -> Positive Aspects and add the quotes?

In Postive Aspects para 1 “character, and which thus prevail beyond” seems a bit jumbled? which prevails ??

Same para “Steinbeck, as it is this” -> Steinbeck, as it is, this

Invincible Friendship Para 2: “which would was uncommon” chuck out would?

4th para: “she simply seems companionship” seeks?

5th para: “– he has had to kill his companion, who he had been through everything with.” Tense issue – he has been through?

Good luck with the entry – a good read thanks smiley - cheers
