i must agree nonnie that the story does teach us something important and i think that is part of what makes us cry when we read it...
knowing that possibly there have been times we let a chance slip through our fingers...

In that case, you might want to have a look at the sound wisdom imparted by Erma Bombeck on RoundsIII:

I've just found this one whilst looking through all the Joke entries etc...
It's a very moving story, but would you consider it appropriate to be part of the Joke Directory? You have linked to the directory from here, and although on the one hand it isn't a joke - it is a story with a very important meaning, on the other, I thjink the more people who read this, the better.
It's your choice - if you'd like to have it included in the directory, let me know.

You're quite right... While your collection is based on hilarity only, mine was and is based on things that have been passed around the 'net, in email, newsgroups, etc.. Some are jokes, some poignant, some just illustrating the stupidity of man in general. smiley - devil Thus, it became part of my 'Rounds' collection, even though I felt it deserved a page of it's own. I have no problem with you linking to it, and unless you'd perefer it not have the link to your page, I'll leave that there, too. (After all.. after reading "The Rose" one might -need- a laugh or three. smiley - winkeye

I've added it to the Directory for now - if at any time we decide that it is not appropriate, I can always remove it. I hjope it is more widelt read.
