A Conversation for Litany Against Fear - Moved

Other Litanies

I'm *sure* there are other Litanies in the Dune books, but I can't remember them, and I don't have access to the books right now... maybe I should just make some up! smiley - smiley

There was that thing Piter says:
"It is by will alone I set my mind in motion it is by the juice of saflu that thoughts acquire speed, the lips acquire stains, the stains become a warning. It is by will alone I set my mind in motion"

That's nice - all I do is try and help someone out, and I get a tongue stuck out at me. smiley - winkeye

What you could add to the article is that there are plenty of alternative litanies/chants/etc. For example Buddhist chants. I don't know about fear but I use a technique to 'seperate' myself from pain, which is very effective if I need a clear head when injured, or if I want to get to sleep.

Hmm.

An entry about all types of litanies etc in the world, and presumably, all of the ones in fiction, would be absolutely huge. And then someone would tell me that I should cut the Bene Gesserit bit cos it's not really necessary, and in any case was mostly plagiarised from the Rite of El-Azael practiced by Zen Taoists. And retitle it too. smiley - sadface And then I'd say ok, stop working on the entry, and submit a new one just like this one...

Nope, what I think would be better is for someone who is interested in Buddhist chants to write an entry about them, someone interested in the Mantra of Bel-Shabboth to write an entry about that, and someone interested in classify and comparing litanies and such to write an entry classifying and comparing them. And when the classification/comparison entry has been made, I'll link to it. (probably from the word 'litany')

Alternatively/Also, when someone has written an edited entry entitled "Fear" and/or "Avoiding Fear", it would make a lot of sense for this one to link to it. And when someone has written an edited entry on the book Dune (or when the film one gets it's final edit) it would make sense for this one to link to it.

This request for info was written (afairc) before the entry got rejected first time round for being too fictional, and I was then concentrating on the Dune-ish bits of it - now that I realise I have to concentrate on the application much more, the request seems a bit silly in retrospect.

Except for my own information, of course... smiley - smiley for which I thank you - I'm looking into buddhism in a really slow and unrushed manner at the moment, and I'll look out for such chants and techniques.

Hmm.

I may change my mind...
