The DTLR - which replaced much of the DETR during 2001 - has issued a consultation paper about changes to the Use Classes Order. If the planned changes are made, then smaller shops (under 100 sq.m of lettable area) might be converted to offices, bars, kebab shops, etc without a planning permission being necessary. Whether you agree with such increased deregulation or not, you may wish to read or respond to these significant proposals.
