I'm sorry to have to be the one to do this, but I'm not sure this is going to be Edited Guide material, although it clearly is factual and fits the format of an EG entry.

It's obviously a subject very dear to your heart, and at this time of year when you are still grieving for your dad I can see why you've put this into PR.

To quote an ex-Editor of this site:

"The point of the Edited Guide is to collate as much material as we can about the *shared* experience of life on Earth. Even in instances where the research might appear exoteric or obscure, there's still that possibility that there might be another Researcher out there who knows a little bit about the subject and so could contribute a little bit more to the entry, either via Peer Review, or by posting to the bottom of the entry. "

There is unlikely to be any other Researchers who aren't family members who can add to this entry, or even review it in any meaningful manner. For instance, you've written much of the entry in the present tense, as if he is still around and alive, then at the end you let us know that he has passed away. Who could be so callous as to point that sort of thing out as part of a review when you are still very upset? Apart from me, obviously.

This is going to sound very harsh, but we could all try to put obituaries of our dearly loved, but departed family members into the EG, but that is really not going to be of very much interest to anyone other than other family members, friends of his, or your friends.

I put the reading that I did at my Grandmother's funeral on h2g2, because I felt that I wanted it remembered so I can understand some of what you feel. I also wrote about my dog when he died recently (which obviously can't be compared to losing a parent) but it's not the sort of subject that should be added to the EG and I'm afraid that much as you loved your dad, and we do all feel for you and what you and your family are going through, this is not the correct review forum for your entry.

"The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is a wholly remarkable book. It has been compiled and recompiled many times and under many different editorships. It contains contributions from countless numbers of travellers and researchers."
