The h2g2 Poem

The Lion1

The lion prowls the countryside
From glen to glen and mountain high
Over brook and stream
Loch and valley
The lion roars

In the wind the saltier blows
In our hearts a tune we sing
In heather the wind douth blow
As we sing our hymn

White on blue the flag doth flutter
The pipes they play our song
Come and sing my counties brothers
Our fathers come and beat the drum
Across the swords dance fair girls
Our clans tartan on your shirt

Oh bonnie land of Scotland
Oh come reclaim your pride
Oh bonnie land oh Scotland
Show them we have not died

My country proud
My people strong
Come tell me here and now
Is this a land worth fighting for?
Where our ancestors have lain

Oh my home fair Scotland
My heart you do hold

For no matter where I go
I am a lion true and bold.
