Entry: A History of the ABC News Themes - A32938842
Author: Cyvros - U944960
This is what happens when someone has too much spare time. About four years of casual research have gone into this, from media fora to a good couple of dozen of the ABC's own annual reports. At this point, this is as accurate and as comprehensive an entry as I can come up with.

G'day Cyvros, good to see this is back on the boards again.
I've only one query and that's the title: I wonder if you should put the full name in brackets so people don't automatically think it's the American ABC ?

Oooh, good point. Fixed and fixed.
Thanks again for your suggestions (from a looong while back) in the Writing Workshop, but as hard as I tried, I wasn't able to track down anything more on any of the themes.

I too should of done some leg work and looked into it but I didn't, nevermind it's still a really well researched entry imo and I hope a few more sould drop by to have a read and make any suggestions they feel might help it.

Right, now that this is in Peer Review, some suggestions:
A History of the ABC (Australian Broadcasting Corporation) News Themes
-->
A History of the Australian Broadcasting Corporation News Themes
Footnotes should come right after the word(1), and not after the full stop. (2)
You Need to Put More Capitals in your Headers.
"go out and buy [himself] a crappy old Holden" - you should use 'single' quote marks, not "double".
"ABC TV/Radio National News Theme" - no need for quote marks here, since you've got the words in italics.
Your tags should be between the and tags.
Footnote ten needn't repeat the same link and details - just 'Ibid.' will do.
Finally, the table ought to be converted into a bulleted list:
ABC News Division: Radio
Title: Majestic Fanfare
Composer: Charles Williams, arranged by Richard Mills
Performed by: Sydney Symphony Orchestra; Stuart Challender (conductor)
Year: 1988
ABC News Division: Radio (Triple J)
Title: Majestic Fanfare (remix)
Composer: Charles Williams, remixed by John Jacobs and Paul McKercher
Performed by: Queen's Hall Light Orchestra and various artists (sampled)
Year: 1991
ABC News Division: Radio (NewsRadio)
Title: Unknown
Composer: Unknown
Performed by: Unknown
Year: 2002
ABC News Division: Television & Online
Title: ABC TV and Radio National News Theme
Composer: Martin Armiger
Performed by: Sydney Symphony Orchestra, Synergy & TaikOz
Year: 2005
Hope this helps.
Alex

Thanks for those, Alex. I've got a quick question: should I use "triple j" or "Triple J"? The ABC almost always refers to it as "triple j", but I just realised that I don't actually have any standardisation in my own entry. The former would probably be more correct, but the latter stands out in a block of text, so I was unsure.

I reckon 'Triple J' would be better, and A1904988 agrees.

Oh, yes.
Congratulations, Cyvros - this has been picked.
It just never got noted in this thread, or moved from Peer Review.
But I was given it to sub-edit and have been reassured that it was indeed picked by a Scout.
The Eds have moved it out of PR now, but you never got a message...
So this is your message.
I'll not bother to explain what happens next, since I see this isn't your first EGE.
Congratulations - Your Entry has been Picked for the Edited Guide!

(Let's do this properly )
"Your Guide Entry has just been picked from Peer Review by one of our Scouts, and is now heading off into the Editorial Process, which ends with publication in the Edited Guide. We've therefore moved this Review Conversation out of Peer Review and to the entry itself.
If you'd like to know what happens now, check out the page on 'What Happens after your Entry has been Recommended?' at EditedGuide-Process. We hope this explains everything.
Thanks for contributing to the Edited Guide!"
