Talking Point: Awards Shows
Created | Updated Mar 11, 2008
Sunday's Oscar Ceremony marked the end of awards show season for another year. Like every year, there were winners: Daniel Day-Lewis did the double, winning the Bafta and the Oscar for best actor. Meanwhile at the Brits, Kylie Minogue, Mika and Take That were among the chosen few. And then there were the losers, the biggest of whom was former X-factor winner Leona Lewis who went home empty-handed despite being nominated for four Brits. Where's the justice, we ask?
So, before we usher out awards season and put the lid on corny acceptance speeches and red carpet glamour for another 12 months, we'd like to know what you think of them. Are awards ceremonies a shallow and pointless excuse for a lot of celebrity back slapping, posh frocks and champers or are they a genuine celebration and reflection of the best and brightest creative talents around the world?
Tell us what you think:
Do you watch awards shows?
Are there too many award shows?
Are you more likely to go and see a film/buy an album if it has won an award?
What do you like/hate about awards shows?
Do you think awards shows are just an excuse for a celebrity knees-up?
Do you think too much money is spent on award shows?
What would you do to make awards shows better?
