Hey Alicat,i'm sorry ,i must of missed you the other day...is everything ok?

14th May 1918

On this day in 1918 a Captain in the British army wrote in his diary;
While it was yet early morning a flier slipped over in the clouds,drpped onto one of our sausages and set it alight,the observer escaped.The German could not go for a second sausage because five of our fliers were already after him.He made for home,all out.The chase was good to watch.He was brought down,but not until he could land inside his own lines,good man.
In the afternoon the small area around the aid post was strafed,unaccountably,with5.9s and 8 inch.A number of the men are getting a bit out of condition,but to send them away will only make things worse for others

not famous in itself i suppose,but ,well,interesting i would say...

I'm glad you will continue. smiley - smiley How are you today? It's a lovely day here. I'm going to e-mail you in a while. I have tons of cleaning to do, but all I want to do is play on the computer. It's not as slow as usual. I used to love to get high, put on the headphones and just float away. (I have a great imagination.) I have about 300 albums, warping in my garage. smiley - sadface Why couldn't they have thought of CD's 20 years ago? smiley - smiley Did you have a nice weekend?

Hi Ali,
I'm fine thank you sweetie.I don't seem to have too much time lately though which is why i have not been spending very much of it in here.The weather is very nice,typical winter weather,gloriously blue skies,sunny and warm,hot even by about 10am,but pretty damn cold in the night time.Its ok though,i like it,makes a change from being hot all the time.
I will check my e-mail sometime today and answer yours.
Cleaning....luckily i have a maid who comes in for a couple of days a week,so apart from cleaning and being fairly tidy as i go i don't reaslly have to worry.....thank goodness.
Yes,i had a lovely weekend thanks,took in a couple of markets,read the papers,watched a concert,walked the dogs.....and chilled....and of course i spent a bit of time in here and trying to wtite some stuff.
Catch you later.

1994: I find it admirable and remarkable that the police in England manage just fine without guns. What is it about us that makes N. Americans so gun happy?

Post 13

I think that the basic differance is that the wild west was only a relatively short time ago.Correct me if i am wrong but there are still probably parts of the States and Canada where Guns are still considered a necessity.Whereas in England,the wildness was effectively tamed long before the advent of guns.
I may be wrong ,it is just a thought of mine....
