Hi GB
Another fascinating read
Nitpicks:
It reads like these could be the other six dogs, so I'd say "Helvelius's other six star formations are: Lacerta, Leo Minor..."
Should these be in bold type?
I'd love to understand more about this and its significance. Could you add another sentence or two (maybe in a footnote)?
Can you explain this. What's a non-comet, and why is Messier the comet ferret?
Icy

Hi Icy
<< Should these be in bold type?>> no, because they aren't part of Canes Venatici - only the components of the constellation get to be in bold
<>
< I'd love to understand more about this and its significance. Could you add another sentence or two (maybe in a footnote)?>>
Explained the classification in more detail in the text (not a footnote)
< It reads like these could be the other six dogs, so I'd say "Helvelius's other six star formations are: Lacerta, Leo Minor...">>
Thanks Icy

I've written more about Messier's non-comets; and why he was called the Comet Ferret (by King Louis XV)
I said that, not reposting Icy

Looks good
So, about these Canids. What would you call a meteor shower from Canis Major? Are they Canids too?

There isn't one but there is a meteor shower associated with Canis Minor: the 11 Canis Minorids http://meteorshowersonline.com/showers/canis_minorids.html
The Canids: http://meteorshowersonline.com/showers/canids.html is the only thing I can find, not very helpful I'm afraid

Another good read, GB.
One small nitpick:
and some of chemical elements - and some of 'the' chemical elements
