h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

I've just been spending a very frustrating fortnight trying to teach my computer to function once again, following a catastrophic catalogue of cybernetic hara-kiri. It seemed that the machine had pondered Hamlet's soliloque and gone for the second option.

Having re-formatted and re-installed everything, the one remaining problem was getting it to recognise and use a modem.

Two technicians have given up on the problem. I had just reached the conclusion that I could quite enjoy life without the web, when I blundered into a solution. I have just logged on to see what - if anything - I've missed in the last month or so, and was reaching the conclusion that life begins with a broken modem when I saw your contribution on pipes.

It made me laugh out loud

I've often had computers not be on me, so I know how annoying it can be - but I sure am glad you enjoyed the jokes.
