    Being There (Reprise, 1996)
Mermaid Avenue [with Billy Bragg] (Elektra, 1998)

More please

Although spawned by the alt.country scene, Wilco's career trajectory has seen them put move further and further away from the pedal-steel world that gave them life. While debut album A.M. has been described as essentially Uncle Tupelo mk.II, Being There represented a significant step forward. A ramshackle double album, it's split fairly evenly between good ol' country and four-to-the-floor Rolling Stones rock-outs, with more than enough alt.weirdness to keep the lofi fanbase happy - witness opener Misunderstood.
