Doomsday Predictions

7 Conversations

There are many beings who believe that there will be a day on which the world ends. These people share several things beside pessimism and strange footwear, and one of them is the ability to make everyone around them more than slightly fearful that life as they know it will suddenly, and without warning, cease.

The day on which this event will happen is widely known as Doomsday, or Judgement Day, or National No Smoking Day and the theories surrounding how this event will happen sit somewhere along the scale between downright outrageous and just plain silly.

There are those who believe that the world will end in a Bang, others that it will just Fade Out. Many believe that some supreme deity will descend from His, Her or Its ethereal realm and squash all those who didn't do as they were told.

Even more believe that whoever left the planet there in the first place will realise their mistake and come back to get it. Some believe a global war will do the deed, others blame disease, famine, bad timing, The Americans or anything that seems good at the time.

The thing they collectively fail to realise is that Doomsday has already happened. What they recognise to be their world now is nothing more than the after-effects of a nasty accident. It can't happen twice. Honestly.
