Mizar and Alcor (it's binary companion) were known as twin stars in the Arabic world, that's why they were given the names Horse and Rider. This was an old vision test in the desert. If you could see both stars, you were thought to have good vision, if not smiley - sadface

That's the only (and a fairly minor) quibble that I had with this entry. Could you mention Alberio in Cygnus as perhaps the most attractive binary? That blue and gold can't be beat! smiley - smiley
