OK, TC,
I was as far as kneel but couldn't make it any further...
Well, then,
1. Fred Quecksilber = Freddy Mercury, of course
2. Stephanie Count = Steffi Graf
3. Fred Sparkler = Friedhelm Funkel (?)
4. John Stream = Johann (Sebastian) Bach (?)
And here are some new ones:
1. Helmut Cabbage
2. Junger Schorsch
3. Willy von den Toren
4. Conny Getreide
5. Rudyard Courtman

Yes of course it isn't that new. The last time I heard it (and perhaps the most appropriate usage) was when an uncle of mine used it on his 60th birthday when the local singing-club had 'brought him a Ständchen'

Maybe Fred Sparkler could be better translated as Fred Shiner.....

So is Friedhelm Funkel correct, or not?
Helmut Kohl, Bill Gates and Rüdiger Hoffmann are true guesses. Georg Young is wrong though. Keep the "George" in second place and go on guessing. And as to "Getreide", I thought of "Reis" - but then it might be too easy...
