My son is coming to Berlin in a couple of weeks with the school - I'll send him to you if you don't come!

(He's not really much of a threat. He recently went for his check up for National Service and was a T2 - fine in all respects but 3 cm too short for GsG9 or whatever! Never mind, he's going to do community service anyway. In Peru)

As it's probably nice weather (ahem!) we could meet in front of the cathedral and walk around a bit before going somewhere. On the other hand, we ought to decide where we are going in case anyone is late or delayed and needs to know where to come along. (I speak from experience - ask Bossel!!!!!)

It should be somewhere quiet-ish, so you don't have to shout. When H2G2 researchers get together chins never stop wagging.

The food should be reasonable and offering as much variety as possible, and the beer good. And the wine.

So we'll leave the choice up to the locals, but those are my preferences. Thank you.

The best cocktails are in the Cohibar and in Maria. The one pub you MUST try in Freiburg is der Schlappen, das Atlantik and in summer, the best beer garden in Freiburg, der Feierling. Closing time has recently been extended to 3 am. There are some clubs which open even longer. For student budgets, a good alternative to university food is die Brennnessel or das Mekong where you get a really good meal.
