If any campaign is to be successful, surely more people should be aware that they exist, and the best way to start this, obviously only in my opinion, is via the youth culture. I suggest, therefore, that before we start protesting to heterosexuals and politicians, more persons of the LGB persuasion should be made aware of the issues surrounding their own society. One possible way of doing this would possibly be to secure greater affiliation between Student Unions and their relevant LGB societies, for at present many student unions, whilst accepting the LGB do nothing in the way of supporting its existence.
For example, in several of the Oxford colleges, LGB representatives are not voted for as members of their respective JCR (Junior Common Room) committees, and have no voting powers whatsoever. Whilst this does not in and of itself appear to be a huge issue, when you consider that a 'Cake rep.' has a vote on the committee, we must surely question what on earth is going on.
I would be really interested to know if anyone else has any opinions on this, especially if they are from other Universities in England, because if this is a nationwide issue, it is definitely something that ought to be ammended.

On that note I am standing for Virtual Prez here at H2G2. I hope that I can count on the M2M2 vote.

Good. Now I must go face the dentist and get my six monthly lecture about I need to brush more vigourously or my teeth will fall out by the time I'm 23..25..29...whatever. I still have them all, so that show how much he knows.
