Orwell is more relevant today than ever before, despite the lightly dismissive tone of the above article, and the book 1984 is a message we may ignore perhaps at our peril.
1984 was intended to be titled 2025 (or some similar future date) by which time language would be simply an opinion control mechanism. Orwell simply thought that the title 1984 would sell better.
We seem to heading towards the triple-powerblock era of the novel when the population of the world is kept in a state of angst, always on amber or red alert, for quasi-political motives.

"The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is a wholly remarkable book. It has been compiled and recompiled many times and under many different editorships. It contains contributions from countless numbers of travellers and researchers."
