A Conversation for Chickenpox and Shingles

Having had shingles, this entry caught my eye. I was fortunate in that I had a relatively mild case. I know people who became photo-sensitive while they had it and a co-worker had it inside her eyes.

You might want to define "vesicles" somewhere.

And commenting on the comment above, my understanding is that the virus lies dormant in the nerves in your spine. Ick.

Good entry, though! smiley - smiley

smiley - ta for that Gordon. I think I did mention somewhere that the virus lies dormant in the nerves close to the spine, but I'll re-check. I'll also re-check what I said about vesicles, but my recollection is that the meaning was implicit in the sentence - in that I thought I used two words meaning the same thing in the sentence.

Shingles affrecting the eyes is certainly extremely serious and can result in blindness.

Hi again Gordon,

I've checked my article and I'm satisfied that the meaning of vesicles is fully explained in the article i.e. next to the first mention I've said 'rash' and further down I've said 'fluid-filled vesicles'.

W.r.t. 'dormancy in in the spine' my articl does say dormancy in ganglia close to the spine.

So I don't really think I need to change anyything .... smiley - erm unless others can convince me otherwise.
