A Conversation for LaLuna Projection (the Moon expedition)
Columbus
GentletGarble Started conversation Jul 25, 2004
Knowing the range of views on Cristoforo Columbo, I wanted to get this conversation started without having 'Columbus was a...' on the Projection page. He is respected as a pioneer and detested for other reasons. I learned in school that he discovered America with his three ships. I learned later in school about the underhanded things that are attributed to him also. We know that the Native Americans were here first, and that the Nordic (?) seamen explored the shores of America as well.
Whatever the case, he is used here as an example of someone who took a chance on something he believed in.
