Oregon - The Willamette Valley

Oregon's Beautiful Willamette Valley

The first thing to know about the valley is that, much like the rest of Oregon, if you don't like getting wet, bring a coat, umbrella, or your towel because chances are it will be raining. Even if you check the weather forecast before you arrive, be ready for anything, because meteorlogical positions in this state are somewhat of a running joke.

The reason for this weather phenomenon is the valleys location. To the west is the Pacific ocean which pushes a cool, moist, sea-breeze east. From there, the bodies of air are rapidly pushed up the coastal range, which cools and condenses the moisture. When the mountains drop off into the valley, most of the moisture falls with it.
