A Conversation for Vegetarian Food For Meat-Eaters
Is soy a healthy food anyway?

There is quite a bit of dissent now about the value of soy as a health food. See http://www.mothering.com/10-0-0/html/10-6-0/soy-story.shtml
I'm not sure that soy products are such a great advertisement for being vegetarian. I eat tofu occasionally. Good alternatives to soy are lentils and other legumes that don't have the same digestive problems as soy (black beans, pinto, chickpeas etc.).
When I read the above article I was surprised to see so many processed soy products being used in the US (we have far less in NZ).
So now I'm curious about what people think about soy.

You have to watch with soya I think. I try to buy non-GM soya for a start, which is far healthier for you even on that small note
