A Conversation for How much longer will the red squirrel be with us?

Not very. When we went to England this summer, we vistied the Lake District for a few days. On the first day, my mum and my sister saw a red squirrel by the side of the road, and I was reading.
The next day we went on a very long hike; there were signs everywhere about the grey-squirrel vs. red-squirrel war.
Very sad, and very stupid of those people who first brought the grey squirrel over. I remember, though I was in America, I was raised with Beatrix Potter books such as Squirrel Nutkin and Mrs. Tiggywinkle. For quite a few years I thought that the "default/most-common" squirrel species was the red. I remember seeing grey squirrels, and one year when I was in elementary I asked my parents where all the red squirrels were, and they told me they were only in England.
Note: My mum was born and raised in England.
