Billericay also almost had Boy George as a famous resident but The Sun found out and printed it so George sold the house. Another famous MP was Harvey Proctor (who now sells shirts in London). Julie Birchill also lived here with her husband, "Well lived is the wrong word" she says.

I grew up in Hutton (a mile away from Billericay) grew up from age 10 in the hub of Billericay, went away to Uni, worked abroad and then returned and bought a house. Does this make me a bad person?
Julie Burchill once said, "I lived in Billericay, well lived is the wrong word".
It could be worse, Brentwood was famous for 15 mins when it was proclaimed as the most dull town in the UK. (Brentwood is an anagram of Bored Town!)
