Bible Code- a bit far fetched?

Michael Drosnin, I gather one of the people at the forefront of the Bible Code made the challenge;
'When my critics find a message about the assisnation of a prime minister encrypted in Moby Dick, I'll believe them'
(Newsweek, Jun 9, 1997)
So they did. Using Drosnin's methods on Moby Dick found various predictions of assisnation attempts; Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, President Rene Moawad, Soviet exile Leon Trotsky, Martin Luther King, Chancellor Englebert Dollfuss, John F. Kennedy, Yitzhak Rabin and many others. This suggests that perhaps you will find similar results in any text of sufficient length using the Bible Code. This also gives considerable room for sceptism over the predictions found in the Bible, unless we are to believe Moby Dick was written with secret messages intentionally hidden in it!
