Looking for the birthplace of country music, the home of one of the world's largest plastics producing plants, and one of the most beautiful regions on Earth? Look no further than the Tri-Cities, which are comprised of Kingsport, Johnson City, and Bristol.
The Tri-Cities are a gateway between Tennessee and Virginia, as Bristol is divided right down the main street by the state line. Bristol, as implied above, is the birthplace of country music. A fun city to live in - if the taxes of one state don't appeal to you, walk across the street and see what they have to offer there. Long Distance bills for state-to-state calling can be a monster, however.
The Tri-Cities were honored in 1999 to be the recipient of an All American City award.
