I've seen pictures made from spices before, but I didn't know that it was a recognised art form.

I've had a go at it myself. It gives you such an inner satisfaction that you've spent time and effort and completed it. Anyone can do it too. Why not have a go.

I love my curries, Opti - I couldn't possibly waste the spices!

Maybe I'll keep the out-of-date ones and then my daughter can have a go.

Very interesting, but I'm not quite sure how the spices etc are fixed in place - if you're going to hang it on the wall.

Perhaps I'm missing something and they're all done on the ground, but even so, I'd expect some agent would be needed to hold them even temporarily....... if I have the wrong end of the stick don't worry about it.

Rangoli are created on floors and no agents like glue are used to keep them in place.

Well .... this entry certainly did what it's supposed to do and made me curious about the whole thing - I've searched for the past 40 mins and can't find any directions for wall rangoli - which is really cursious since every site bar none states that it is wall as well as floor art.

I can't be of any help in this ...... but I can't wait to find out.

Well done Opti, so that woman is painting a wall rangoli ..... that clears it up a bit - the rangoli is the picture prayer - I thought it was a picture made with dry ingredients.


Maybe you could have another look at the entry and see if this is clear - it may just be me.

Can you give a better pronunciation guide? You don't say how to pronounce the final i. Is it ran-goal-ee or ran-goal-eye?
