Hampton Court Palace was built during the reign of King Henry VIII, but not built by him. Cardinal Thomas Wolsey actually had the house built but it did eventually pass into the ownership of his king. I can't remember off hand whether Wolsey gave it to Henry or whether he just helped himself because he liked it - I'll leave it to you to check that out.
I'm very interested in the Tudors and Hampton Court is on my list of places I would like to visit so I hope you do get around to writing your guide soon.

You were quick off the mark! Anyway, yes, I just put something there to remind me what I was going to write, I will get around to explaining it eventually and although I've lived here for a year, I'm bound to make a few mistakes, so any help would be great

I was a bit keen there, wasn't I? Sorry 'bout that.
I am thinking about writing a guide entry myself (I've been hanging around here for long enough, it's about time I did some work) and so I have started to look at what other people are doing to get an idea of style and such. I'm interested in the Tudor period, so the title of your piece caught me eye. I'm surprised that no one has written a guide entry about Elizabeth I, so that is what I hope to do. When, is quite another matter ...

I've thought about this entry, and decided that I think I'll focus more on the area than the palace itself; history has never been my strong point
Like I say, I've lived here long enough though, so I think that's the angle I'll take.
