There is also early evidence from around 14,000 bp that early man dometicated the wolf in the near east. Until recently it was thought that the cat was domesticated in Egypt around 4,000 bp but a recent dig in Cyprus has uncovered a grave of a human and a cat lying side by side. This grave indicates that cats held a meaningful place in their society. In addition to this, there were no wild cats on the island
