What do you plan to do?
Miriavas Started conversation Mar 8, 2005
*Takes a deep, nervous breath as this is her first started conversation*
So what do you plan to do to celebrate the opening of this movie? Me and a friend have taken to impersonating Wowbagger the infinately prolonged on IMDB and randomly handing out harmless, meaningless insults in alphabetical order. Just to see who gets it.
I also plan on taking a towel to the movie.

Good question. Should one turn up in a dressing gown?

Ged42 Posted Mar 9, 2005
There was vague talk of meet up in London, involving going to see the movie dressed in gowns and carrying towels

I think a towel is a nice statement, elegant yet understated...
Of course having a towel embroidered with *Property of Milliways* and wearing it jauntily over the shoulder would be even better!

Max Headroom 4m2 (LesBeest ) Posted Mar 9, 2005
Sounds weird enough to try it, carying you towel and PDA [] on display and wearing a dressing gown.
Be it, I wont be in London at the premiere. Mine is 30th June

clzoomer- a bit woobly Posted Mar 9, 2005
Is that the NA premier or the US one? (Living in hope that Canada might get a leg up on this one...)
What do you plan to do?
Miriavas Posted Mar 9, 2005
I wont be in London either. But I think everyone taking towel where ever, when ever their premiere is, would be a nice touch!

cl zoomer, Well it is the first day in the UK and USA, so does it matter? We aren't evil! Well, not all of us are evil....Well not entirely evil....ish.
August 4 is a long wait. Maybe you could take a trip to England around the end of April!

>> I'm assuming Canada is once more lumped in with the Excited States of America. <<
Not necessarily. It is entirely possible that Disney Corp may take this opportunity to punish us for our sins.
They know Canadians are all red coated royalists at heart and that
by denying us this titbit of English culture they can strike another blow at our morale.
So stiff upper lip, towel at the ready, bring on the sour grapes.

Sour Grapes? We no longer need an aged vintner to tell when to harvest the grapes, depending as he does on touch and smell, taste and a lifetime of experience! No! NASA has a better idea! http://www.nasa.gov/lb/missions/science/f_grapes.html Just like so much of our lives, let's McDonaldise everything!
The fact that the film was actually produced in Britain didn't surprise me, it wasn't a proven brand concept. Wait and see if it's popular, though. Walt will reach out from the grave and make sure Hootoo II is a Yankee Doodle dandy!
As the 51st (52nd?) state I'm certain we'll have the same release date.

I'm not really here Posted Mar 9, 2005
I'm hoping to meet up with another Researcher and our kids to go and see it, but I doubt there will be any dressing gowns or towels between us. I might take a cushion as the cinema is a bit old, so will probably be uncomfortable.

Should I turn up on the campaign stump carrying my towel on release date until I get to see the film?

The Duke of Dunstable Posted Mar 9, 2005
I would love to pop over to London for the actual premiere, but over on my forum people set their minds on May 6 and are still sticking to it, so I guess I'll wait until then. Loads of people going to London then, should be a thrill to meet them. I am counting on a beer orgy after the show.

You've been tainted by exposure to too much of the unholy Yankee dollar. The phrase "In God WE TRust" which appears on all their coinage and currency has obviously rubbed off on you, but you must remember m'dear that their 'we' definitely does not include us.
The fact that we are currently engaged in economic and cultural warfare with the bush elephant must never cloud our clear and poresent vision that the world's biggest economic foundation is based on a collective lie. They don't really trust god. And even if they wanted to, their Constitution forbids it.
