The Passion Of The Christ
Created | Updated Mar 28, 2005
The Passion of the Christ is a film account of the last twelve hours of the life of Christ. It begins in the Garden of Gethsemane after the Last Supper - the night Judas betrayed Jesus. The Biblical accounts of the event are found in the Gospels - in Matthew chapters 26 to 28, Mark 14 to 16, Luke 22 to 24, and John 13 and 17 to 21.
The film is very controversial, and has been mostly talked about because of the high level of violence. The film shows in great detail the brutality of the crucifixion process, and the suffering the person goes through. However, this did not stop many churches booking out cinemas on the film's release.
This film has affected every person who has seen it. I heard of one person how shot himself after seeing it; another man who went to a police station to confess to a crime he had committed; and many other people who simply closed their eyes or walked out of the cinema, unable to watch.
If anyone reading this has seen the film, and has questions about the film or Christianity in general, please ask and I will try to find you an answer. As a Christian, obviously I'll have a particular take on the film, but please don't hold that against either me or the film.
I am He who blots out your transgressions for my own sake, and I will not remember your sins.
