Anyone for a discussion of the somewhat gentler art of pedestrian etiquette?

Maybe you know why do large groups of pedestrians insist on coming to a grinding halt in front of a shop entrace thus effectively blocking you from entering (or exiting as the case might be)? Another question - why do the people walking in front of you walk slower than the pace you would like to walk at but prevent you from walking past? I think fast lanes on congested pavements like in Oxford street would be a good idea.

A great idea, Mr Beelzebug. I'm still thinking.
