Among other things for me it's lots of gore

ok, i'm gonna say a sustainable psychological plot. none of that namby pamby stuff that relies on special effects to pass itself off. with the exception of Alien, i think most horrors that try to use special effects as a main selling point are doomed to failure.

then there's the believable bad guy, like Freddy and Vorhees. you know they can be killed or stopped, but you have to sit and wait until the actors find out how...if they ever do

Something vaguely original..or at least a good twist is good too..its all too predictable lately..especially when youvew watched as many as I have..nothings really scared me in ages.

and did i mention lots of gore?

I've not seen anything that decent in ages,,I quite fancy seeing that 'White Noise'though!

A good score always helps, like in the Omen. Can't remember the tunes name Carmina O Burana or something like that? Old Spice tune. I can't help but think of people getting impaled whenever I hear that music.
Hands coming out of the ground tend to get me as well. Even though I know that it's coming the ending in Carrie still frightens the bejesus out of me. And the first time I saw it... (shudders)

PS how much gore are we talking here, Braindead levels?

Music wise tubular bells freaks me out now..and have you ever sen rosemarys baby? the music from that.. a great one though is the old song playing in the ballroom at the end of the shining (midnight,with the stars and yooou)..play it when youve got people over, theyll shudder but not remember why

Just watched 28 Days Later on sunday night, for about the tenth time. Bloody marvellous.

No but it looks good. Theres another one similar out to it, the Cave. Typical you wait for a good monsters in the dark movie and two come along at once.

Ged n I went to see descent a few weeks back..really really good.. kept me awake that night..

the cave looks like a similar thing done not half as well..
