According to the authoritative Kate website Gaffaweb, you're almost entirely correct. She did indeed record wordless vocals for Fruitopia commercials, and she also recorded a version of the old song 'Brazil' for the soundtrack album of Terry Gilliam's film of that name. However, the track isn't heard in the film itself.
