Good article CD, and nice idea about looking at some of the other religions in the Empire. Just a hint, but you might want to mention the Arians, since they were a major threat to the orthodox Christian church at the time and in the centuries to come. An Arian Bishop, Eusebius of Nicodemia (who would eventually have Constantine's support and become a pain in the arse of St Athanasius) gave the opening address. And the whole business of the Trinity really got up the noses of the Arians who believed there was only ONE god, not three. (Jesus' divinity was also questioned)

I giving it a link in the Historical Society, anyway!

Excellent article, and I picked up a few things from it. It starts out about the Council of Nicae, though, and ends up rambling on about other things. All useful bits, but off the subject. If you changed the title, to something like "The Rise of Christianity," it would work.

You made reference to my familiarity with 'The Templar Revelation' in another forum, and I was somewhat confused as to how you knew, since I didn't quote them as a source anywhere. Then I stop by here, and notice you lifted the exact same reference to the Carpocrations! Great minds think alike, and it IS an excellent bit of information. smiley - smiley

Gargleblaster: As I said then and I reiterate now, you have the knack of brevity that I just can't manage. Any opportunity to put down the church seems too good to miss! I am thinking of making a couple of changes though, and I can probably move some references to a separate entry and elucidate on them further, so that we can continue to carry on our conversation over about ten different forums, as we are now!

PS Tag, you're it!
