As a kid the night sky was always endlessly fascinating to me. After a gap of many years my interest has been rekindled through having kids of my own. I guess I'm fascinated by the bigger picture now, and I have some rather radical cosmoogical ideas. Come visit if you want to chat.

I think kids do that do people - I have experienced a sort of return to the wonder of childhood myself since my child appeared on the scene as well. Does that make sense?

So what are these big ideas?

Great to hear from you. Indeed, when my children were very young, I found myself seeing the wonder of the world vicariously through their eyes. It's wearing off somewhat now they're a little older, but those magical moments are still there.

If you want a feel for these ideas of mine come visit the forum at http://www.h2g2.com/forumframe.cgi?forum=31029&thread=35442

I'm trying to clarify them myself by bouncing them off as many peole as I can get interested. You'd be very welcome.

Could anyone set up a H2G2 astronomical society do you think. Be cool and people could post obsrvations and have discussions etc. Just a thought.

Wow - I just checked - no official page on Astronomy! Right. I'm on to it, but a) it will probably take 16-20 weeks b) it might be rejected if it is poor quality and c) I only get a chance to do serious star gazing once in the blue moon so I will need some help.

I will set up a page using liberal doses of the main page here, and then if you have any ideas or comments or criticisms, send them to me.

How about that?

PS - I saw the space shuttle again a few days ago. Definitely worth watching if you get the chance.

My time is spread very thin too so I might not get much time to contribute, but I'll spread the word.

I have just seen JimiX's observatory page and I have to defer to a real expert in these matters. Check out http://www.h2g2.com/A222913 for a really well maintained home page on Astronomy.

Anyone - should I submit my astronomy page in any case, just as an introduction?

Certainly. Sound's good. I just attended my local Astronomical Society for the first time tonight, there is a chance that if this goes through then it could be accepted as a bonefide society. Anyway, I'm free -ha! apart from A-levels- so will quite happily contribute stuff, I used to do an article for my school magazine. Plus I can provide picures that I've taken and notes etc. Superb.

Ahh, I am Hooloovoo, in case you were wondering. HLV is my laptop and was created when I messed everything up! Oops.

Cool.
