Having now been on both sides of that phone myself, I can definitely appreciate this! MY favorite (for this week anyway) is they guy who called and stated he was "having trouble with his laptop" because he "has a screw loose." Made my day!

*laughs* ... Just out of curiosity, was he being facetious or was he serious?

After having signed the customer up for internet service, and then wizzed customer through the "internet setup wizzard".
Customer: Okay so now I can sign get into the internet?
Tech: Yes that should get you connected. Do you have a second phone line that connects to you computer?
Customer: Yes.
Tech: Okay then all you have to do is double-click on your Internet Explorer icon and that will take you into the internet.
Tech hears customer's modem dial-in, and then connect.
Customer: Okay it says "verifying username and pass.." Okay the box disappeared. What happened?
Tech: Look to the lower right of your monitor. Do you see two small computers?
Customer: Okay something is coming on my screen. It says (customer describes Internet Explorer home page) What do I do now?
Tech: Well, sir enjoy the internet, you are connected and you can begin surfing the web at any time.
Customer: Okay, well, where do I go?
Tech: Anywhere you want sir.
Customer: Okay, I mean, uh, what do I do?
Tech: Sir? Do you see the address bar at the top of your screen?
Customer: Yes.
Tech: Well, you type the address of the web site in that area and the IE will take you to that web site.
Customer: And then what?
Tech: (very confused at this point) Sir, isn't there a web site that you've heard about that you'd like to visit?
Customer: No.
Tech: Then, sir why did you sign up for internet access?
Customer: I don't know, everyone told me I needed to.
Tech: Thank you for your call, enjoy the internet.

LOL
Maybe the next line should have been:
Tech: Turn on your tv for 10 minutes. The next commercial that comes on, write down that little thing that has www. at the beginning. Then type that into the text box at the top of IE.
Or better yet, just send them to http://www.h2g2.com
