A Conversation for Night of teh Hoover

Awake! for Hoovering in the Bowl of Night
Has flung the lint that puts the dust to flight:
And Lo! the marble of the child has caught
In the Hoover's hose above a Hoover's light.

Dreaming when Bob's Left Hand was in control
I heard a Voice within the Kitchen cry,
"Awake, my Little ones, and fill the bowl
"Before Hoover and its bag be dry."

And, as the Cock crew, those who stood before
Then Bob shouted--"Open then the Door!
"You know how little while we have to stay,
"And, once departed, may return no more."

Now the thread's reviving old desires,
The thoughtful Soul to kebabs retires,
Where the white hand of 2legs on the keyboard
Puts out, and Bob from the screen suspires.

Nightoover indeed is gone with all its hose,
And Bob and all to where no one knows;
But still the thread her ancient wisdom yields,
And still the odd researcher blows.

And Bobs lips are lock't; but in divine
High piping 2legs, with "Wine! Wine! Wine!
"Red Wine!"---the Nightingale cries to the those
That yellow Cheek of hers to incarnadine.

Come, fill the Cup, and in the Fire of Spring
The Winter Garment of Repentance fling:
The dust and dirt has but a little way
To fly---and Lo! The Bob is on the Wing.

smiley - wowAh! I knew this seemed familiar... I had a glimpse at Fitzgerald's translation of al-Khayyam when I wrote my paper on the English translations of Arabic pre-Islamic poetry!

Not that al-Khayyam was either Arabic or pre-Islamic, of course - but he did influence other translators.

Sorry, that wasn't very interesting, was it?smiley - erm

smiley - okBrilliant job, old boy. Very cool indeed.
