Are mormons Christian?
biblenut Started conversation Aug 26, 2006
There are 3 fundamental beliefs to Christianity:
1. Believe that Christ was resurrected physically
2. Believe that we are saved by grace, and grace alone, not by works so than any man may boast!
3. Believe that Christ was God in the flesh
As you can see, mormons distort 2 of these, therefore are NOT Christian. There are many cults that claim to be Christian, the Jehova's false Witnesses are another one of them. You can claim it all you want, but it does not make it true.
The mormon president gordon b. hinckley even stated himself, that the Christian God/Jesus, is not the same God/Jesus that the mormons believe in. Here is the actual quote:
"In bearing testimony of Jesus Christ, President Hinckley spoke of those outside the Church who say Latter-day Saints 'do not believe in the traditional Christ.' 'No, I don't. The traditional Christ of whom they speak is not the Christ of whom I speak. For the Christ of whom I speak has been revealed in this the Dispensation of the Fullness of Times. He together with His Father, appeared to the boy Joseph Smith in the year 1820, and when Joseph left the grove that day, he knew more of the nature of God than all the learned ministers of the gospel of the ages.'" (LDS Church News Week ending June 20, 1998, p.7 )
