Nice going Stu, first potential guide entry. I have to say that the best part was the last bit, I liked the analysis of the predictive ability of the film industry. It all seems rather disappointing, doesn't it? They were such grand (as in momentuous, massive, etc. not as in 'Isn't it a grand, fine day?'!!) aspirations or visions. Hope and nihilism thrown together in the one genre. And after all that hard work dreaming it up it doesn't come to pass. But maybe that is the whole reason why. I mean if you think about it, it makes perfect sense. The destructive and creative abilities instead of being channelled into war and all that dramatic stuff were channelled into futuristic costume dramas. They no longer left themselves the energy or the time to fulfil their vision in reality. The imaginary world has been used to conduct a very unorthodox experiment, with money and fame as the prizes, as they always were, but with bloodshed that no-one crys over. Are we moving from physical modes of expression to less tangible? Will we find a way to cause destruction and brilliance through celluloid? Deep huh?

"The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is a wholly remarkable book. It has been compiled and recompiled many times and under many different editorships. It contains contributions from countless numbers of travellers and researchers."
