Hi
I have just read an intersting point of view from an English visitor to my country. On Ya Mate!
Any way I do wish to make a small objection to the statement that the person thought there was not much to see except the clifs (my loose interpretation of the article).
The first time one travels across the nullabour one does tend to think it is boring (compared to what?) but the more you do it the more intersting it becomes. There is never a dull moment. The flora and fauna are forever changing and you always wonder what is going to happen next!
Traveling the nullabour is a bit like walking thru' a forest. For a start all you see are trees, but take a bit of time and have a closer look and all sorts of things begin to materialise out of the "sameness".
If you do decide to cross our magnificent and unique nullabour, slow down a bit, make more stops than you planned and let your mind take in a facinating place.
Finally it is really great to hear the points of view from visitors to Oz. Tell your mates they would be mad not to take advantage of the exchange rate between the Pound and our dollar. It won't always be like it.
Pete

Hi
I agree the Nullabor Plain is a wonderful, unique experience, the vastness of the flat vistas are everchanging and beautiful. I especially enjoyed stopping, getting out of my vehicle and experiencing the quietness, remoteness and unique beauty of the plains. Some other memories I have are the wonderful wedge tailed eagles soaring above or feasting on the sides of the road, delightful wombats, kangaroos, and a particularly memorable large brown snake that crossed in front of us. We saw dingos roaming around one of the roadhouses and they watched us with suspicious eyes not venturing too close but very interested in us.
The Nullabor is not a desert it has an amazing array of flora too, that changes with the seasons and it can instantly burst into a beautiful, fragrant, colourful wildflower display especially in spring after good rains. We were lucky last time we crossed to experience this in one of the best seasons ever.
It is vast, can be dangerous, can be hot, can flood but the more times I travel the Nullabor the more I see and enjoy.
