Well, it's just the way I experience it. International perceptions can be odd things, and they sometimes need to be opposed.

Yeah... I was sort of expecting something about dog sleds and snowmobiles and the like (even if it was meant as a joke), but was quite pleased to see something that was in the least bit accurate. Thanks for setting the record straight.

(PS. Not to insult anyone who DOES take a dog sled to work, mind you. )

Here's a little story that isn't exactly about Canada as much as it's about my fellow Texans and how they contend with winter weather...

My father went on a business trip to Connecticut and while he was there, the North Atlantic coast was battered by the worst storm in memory (the one "The Perfect Storm" featured.) My father was stuck in the airport for twenty four hours on the way back... Oh, it wasn't JFK (Airport in New York) that had problems... There they knew how to handle winter... No, my dad was stuck at DFW!! (Dallas) Dallas got about two inches of snow from an unrelated 'storm' and had to shut down! (Not enough, or maybe any, de-icing machines apparently). He was stuck for twenty four hours only three hours away from home by car!

Though I hate to promote the stereotype of a snow-oriented Canada...at this very moment my car is under five feet of snow. Volunteers to shovel it out would be greatly appreciated.

Oh, for a pair of snowshoes and a lesson on how to use them...

I'm up to my ankles in the streams from melting snow.

Don't you have trains in Canada, you all seem like sensible types who wouldn't let trains by stopped by the wrong sort of snow..

Yes, we have trains. Ironically, they're stopped by a strike right now.

Its funny and I like it. But if it was true it wouldn't be in the Underguide.

Its far too simple to be true.

But it's the simplicity that makes it likeable
