Force Field

A self-defence device used in Science Fiction, which generates a field of energy around a being. Nothing can penetrate a force-field, so anyone wearing a force-field device is rendered virtually indestructible. People in the future are generally more highly advanced beings and so are more peaceful and respect other being's ways of life. When they come into contact with aggressive, barbaric planets, they are protected from harm by the mean planet dwellers who might otherwise bash them to pieces and force them to work in their slave factories. This way, they can educate the backwards natives and teach them manners...until the batteries run out. :-(
