The Camarilla
The Camarilla is the main affiliation among Kindred society; this is because there is more structure to Camarilla society than Sabbat.
The Camarilla is most commonly referred to as ‘good’ because of its attitude towards humans; as a whole they try to conserve human life and try to keep from killing wherever possible by only feeding a small amount from 2 or 3 humans a night – enough to make them drowsy but not to kill them or irreparably damage them.
The Camarilla follows five main traditions and to break any one of them means instant and final death; these traditions are:
- The Masquerade – This means that no vampire may ever reveal in any way about their existence to humans without killing them immediately. This is the most important of the five traditions and is the bedrock on which the Camarilla is based; any vampire who breaks this tradition will be immediately diablorized along with their sire and any childer they have created.
- The Right of Creation – No vampire may ever be made out of anger, jealousy, revenge, or love. No vampire may be made without the permission of the Prince of the City.
- The Right of Destruction – No vampire may be destroyed without the permission of a Prince or Justicar (unless they have broken one of the traditions).
- Domain and Haven – Any vampire new to the city must present themselves before the Prince and beg leave to hunt in their domain.
- The Right of diablerie – Diablerie (dee-ab-lor-ree) is the rape and consumption of another vampire’s soul resulting in their final death. If diablerie is committed then the vampire who did it may be killed without trial.
The Power Structure
- JUSTICAR - There is only ever one Justicar per clan at any one time, they are the ultimate leaders of the Camarilla and will probably not appear in this game
- PRINCE - The Prince can be male or female, they run the city and have final say in everything
- PRIMOGEN COUNCIL - The Primogen Council are the Prince's advisors. Often if the Prince is incompetent it is this Council who hold the true power in a city
- SHERIFF - Responsible for making sure the Masquerade is upheld and all other laws are kept
- KEEPER OF ELYSIUM - Responsible for making sure the peace is kept and all rules adhered to within Elysium walls
- HOUNDS - The Sheriff's lackeys
- HARPIES - They decided who's who and who's not. They're not an official position but a harpy can hold great political sway
