The pub has good food and drinks. But the manager is extremely rude to guests. We had gone to this pub for a drink and dinner at 10; but the kitchen was closed at 9 and hence we dint get any food. We went out and bought some take away food to eat later. The manager informed us rudely that he would not allowed outside food to be bought in the pub; we clarified that we are not eating the food , but just got the takeaway (which was properly wrapped) before other restaurants closed. HE did not budge and threw some rude comments.
I actually had liked this place due to its location and closeness to the university, but I would never set foot again in that pub, due to its manager.

This is a great start to filling in a gap to the Guide. It needs a bit more work, but that's what Peer Review is for.

If I was wanting to visit this pub, I could do with a bit more information:


-where is it located within Nottingham? I've never been there, so I'd need a bit more information.

-what is the feel? You say it's frequented by students, which makes me assume that it's 'cheap and cheerful' rather than Real Ale orientated; could you make this clear? I like the leather chairs and the fireplace, keep that part, but possibly add a little more about the rest of the pub. Is it all old-style leather seats or is that a feature in an otherwise modern pub?

-do they serve food? I know you said this in your post but it's not in the Entry.

-It's probably not worth mentioning the new staff as in a few weeks they won't be so new! Plus all pubs suffer from the new staff syndrome at some point. It's the sort of thing that would go in the conversation at the bottom of the Entry if it gets published; the Entry itself needs to be as timeless as possible.

Not necessarily. The bad review in the thread isn't the Entry itself. With some work, it may be possible for the author to make the Entry a decent description of the pub.

Can we sit back for a couple of weeks and see if they come back first?

Original author back in 1999, new Researcher has submitted it, meaning it can never be altered to get up to Guide standard. Sorry, I hadn't spotted that.
