Little was hit by a car, whilst he was crossing on a zebra crossing, with a school crossing patrol holding up the traffic. The police are doing the driver for driving without due care and attention.

Little was taken to hospital in an ambulance and had x-rays to his head and knee. Amazingly, he only suffered grazes. His young bones must be very elastic and he's very small still (althoug he might have grown a bit since you saw him). With you or I, the story might have been very different. Apparently, it looked very bad, and the school crossing patrol didn't really want to go to work the next day.

I wonder whether your driver was licensed? There is a fairly high percentage of unlicensed drivers on the road in the UK. I think the general number is around 8%, although in some parts - and not too far from where I live - the figure is nearer 20-25%. I remember going to a police meeting at which it was said that when they policed traffic collision hotspots, they picked up quite a bit of criminal activity as well. It seems that many criminals have a tendency to drive inconsiderately. They do say that certain types of families (probably the type that own rottweilers/bull terriers) are the cause of the majority of crime in their areas.
